Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi on Creativity, fulfillment and flow

Check out this talk on creativity. Where in our normal day lives do we feel really happy and how do creative people feel it was worth spending their lives doing things that have nothing to do with fame and fortune but everything with meaningfulness? Did you know ecstasy originally means stepping to the side of something, and now it means a mental state where you are not doing your ordinary routines. How does this relate to creating a different world? Why do we want to create this? When we are working on this, how does it affect our ecstatic state?

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi has contributed pioneering work to our understanding of happiness, creativity, human fulfillment and the notion of "flow" -- a state of heightened focus and immersion in activities such as art, play and work.

Interesting video. I find it ironic that someone wants to analyze "flow"! That's like trying to capture the sense of Now! Still, it's interesting fodder for the mind. It seems to me that a useful question to ask during our process of creation is how much flow we are sensing or how much rigidity. In my experience, flow just happens. It's interesting to sit with the inquiry of how to foster that in ourselves and group processes. Thanks for sharing Vic.
